Back in the day, Johnny studied architecture at UNSW whilst working for a carpenter, however he found a future onsite was preferable to being behind a desk.

Delivering standard houses never did it for Johnny, he wanted to build architectural homes that were more than just bricks and mortar. Subsequently he began working with one of Sydney’s best architectural builders (Bellevarde) where he completed his apprenticeship, went on to leading hand and eventually obtained his builders’ licence.

After almost 10 years with Bellevarde he was ready to set out on his own - Holmwood was established and quickly gained a reputation for delivering quality work in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Darren and Johnny met when they were both working for Bellevarde, they immediately “hit it off” and became great friends.

Darren is Holmwood’s Sydney based Project Manager. He is meticulous with his work, believes in doing things the right way and ensures that all work will stand the test of time - his focus is always on quality and the details.

Darrens resume comprises a long list of high-end architectural homes delivered by some of Sydney’s best builders and prior to joining Holmwood, Darren had his own carpentry company - D Shelsher Carpentry.

“Josho” is part of the Holmwood family both figuratively and literally - married to Johnny’s sister Emily, he was also one of the founding members of Holmwood.

Coming from a concreting background, Josho’s knowledge and experience has been paramount to Holmwood’s success with projects where there are significant concrete components.

Recently he has completed his Certificate 3 in carpentry with Holmwood and is currently undertaking his Certificate 4 in Building Construction.
